Your downloads stay on your computer
FID saves download history, file locations, progress, and preferences locally so you can resume work. Download requests connect to the websites and servers you choose. Video downloading may use the bundled video tools to contact those services.
Browser integration
If you enable browser-session support, the extension can pass relevant sign-in cookies to the desktop app for your selected download. FID protects saved browser-session data using Windows data protection. Temporary session files may be used by the video downloader. Only download material you have permission to access.
Capture and video buttons are optional. You can turn them off in the extension or in FID’s browser integration settings. The extension communicates with the desktop app through a locally registered browser connection.
Website download statistics
This site can count clicks on its direct download links. When enabled, the FID website plugin stores daily totals by download mirror and country code. A click does not prove that a download completed or that the app was installed.
The plugin uses your connection’s IP address briefly to estimate the country using a locally stored MaxMind database. It does not save raw IP addresses or full user-agent strings in its statistics. A short-lived keyed hash reduces repeat counting for two minutes. No analytics cookie is set by the FID plugin. Country estimates can be inaccurate, especially with VPNs or proxies.
Recognized bots and requests with Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control enabled are excluded from these plugin statistics. Data is kept for the configured retention period, 365 days by default, and removed through scheduled cleanup.
Hosting, WordPress and external links
Your hosting provider may keep ordinary server and security logs. WordPress uses cookies for administrator login and may use cookies for additional features enabled by the site operator. Other installed plugins can have their own data handling. Microsoft Store, Chrome Web Store and download mirrors have their own privacy practices when you visit them.
Country database attribution
When country lookup is enabled, this product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from MaxMind.
