Your first download
Install FID, add a link, and save your first file.
Install and open FID
Get the Windows release from the download page. The current packaged app targets 64-bit Windows 10 version 2004 (build 19041) or later, including Windows 11. Always check the requirements listed with your release.
Install the signed package or use the Microsoft Store listing when available. Open Fast Internet Downloader from Start. FID creates a desktop shortcut on its first launch; deleting the shortcut does not remove the app.
Add your link
- Select Add URL or press Ctrl + N.
- Paste a direct file URL. For a video, paste the specific video page and choose the video or audio download type.
- Choose a destination folder and any download options, then select Add download.
- In Download file information, review the filename and folder. Select Start download or Download later.
Follow the progress
Select a download and choose Progress, or double-click it. You can pause, resume, or find its destination folder. Closing the progress window does not stop the download.
Find your finished file
Select the completed download and choose Show in folder. If the completion dialog is enabled and the progress window is open, it also offers Open and Open with.
A website address is not always a file link. If FID saves a webpage instead of the expected file, follow the site’s download button and use its direct file link or the Chrome capture feature.
