Background downloads and Windows startup
Keep FID nearby without keeping the main window open.
Close the window, keep the downloads
Closing the main window hides FID in the Windows notification area. Downloads continue. If you do not see the icon, open the notification-area overflow next to the clock.
Use the notification-area menu
Right-click the FID icon. Choose Show main app to restore the window. The Downloads submenu shows live progress for active work, including percentage or bytes, speed and state. Select an entry to open its progress window.
Exit FID
Choose Exit from the menu to stop the app. FID pauses active downloads and saves their progress. Closing a progress dialog or the main window is different from exiting.
Start quietly with Windows
Enable Settings → General → Start FID in the notification area when Windows starts. At sign-in, the app starts in the background without opening the main window or progress dialogs.
Windows can disable startup apps. If the option does not take effect, check the startup-app setting for FID in Windows. Startup is optional and does not automatically confirm pending downloads.
The desktop shortcut
FID creates a shortcut on first launch. If you delete it, the app does not repeatedly recreate it. You can still start FID from the Windows Start menu.
