Up and running in a few steps.
- Choose the Windows package or Microsoft Store listing above when available.
- Install FID and open it from Start or the desktop shortcut.
- Select Add URL, paste your link, and choose a filename and save folder.
- Select Start download. You’re on your way.
Before you install
Use the package that matches your Windows version and architecture. Download from an official link or a listed mirror. If Windows cannot verify a package’s publisher, stop and get a verified release instead of bypassing the warning.
Existing users should exit FID before installing an update. Keep your saved files and partial downloads in their current folders if you want to resume later.
A few useful answers.
Can I use FID without the Chrome extension?
Yes. Paste a direct file link or a supported video page URL into Add URL. The extension is for browser capture, video buttons, and browser-assisted link refresh.
Can I download on macOS or Linux?
The current desktop app is built for Windows. Check the system requirements shown with the release.
What if a mirror is unavailable?
Try another listed mirror for the same version and architecture. Use the checksum, when supplied, to verify the downloaded file.
Can I pause and resume any download?
Resume depends on the website and whether the source file still matches. FID checks saved file parts before reusing them.
