Refresh an expired download link
Get a fresh URL while keeping the same download entry.
Before you refresh
Pause the affected entry and select Refresh link. Use a replacement for the same file, not a different version or a similarly named file. FID checks the source before reusing saved chunks.
Open the original page and wait
- Check the Original download page address.
- Select Open page and wait. Chrome opens the original page through the connected extension.
- Start the same download again from that page.
- FID receives the replacement link for the existing entry. If Resume when the new link is received is enabled, it resumes when possible.
This waiting mode is scoped to the original page and can work even when general capture is off. Only one refresh wait is active at a time, and it expires after 30 minutes.
Paste a replacement manually
If Chrome is not connected, copy a fresh direct link to the same file into Or paste a replacement URL. Add the referring page when needed and choose Save pasted link. You can leave automatic resume unchecked to keep the entry paused.
Cancel waiting
Cancel the refresh wait if you no longer need it. This does not delete the saved file chunks. Start a new refresh when you are ready.
Why a refresh can restart the file
A changed file, incompatible server response, or invalid saved data can make continuation unsafe. FID checks the existing bytes and available validators before appending. A fresh URL is not a promise that every saved part can be reused.
Video refresh
Use the original specific video page for a video download. Avoid switching to a feed, a profile, or a different video while trying to recover the entry.
