Troubleshoot a download
Practical checks for connection, file, video and browser problems.
The download is not starting
Look at the Status column. An entry awaiting confirmation needs you to double-click it or select Resume and review its details. Check that the queue is running, the start delay has passed, and a simultaneous slot is free.
The download is slow
Check your per-download speed limit and how many jobs are active. Try fewer connections if a website rejects parallel requests. Speed depends on the source server and your connection; increasing every limit will not always help.
A link has expired or reports access denied
Open the original page and verify you can still download the file. Use Refresh link for the same file. If sign-in is required, use the connected Chrome extension with appropriate session support. Do not post token-bearing links publicly.
The extension says disconnected
Make sure FID is installed, its browser integration is enabled, and the extension is enabled in Chrome. Complete the browser setup supplied with your release. If the desktop connection was registered for a different extension installation, it needs to be corrected. Until then, paste direct URLs into the desktop app.
Open page and wait does not work
Browser-assisted link refresh needs the registered desktop connection and extension. Use a manual replacement URL if it is unavailable. Start the same download from the original page, and restart the refresh wait if its 30-minute window has expired.
FID downloads a webpage instead of the file
The URL probably points to a page, a sign-in form, or a browser-only response. Use the actual download link, browser capture where supported, or complete the transfer inside Chrome.
The file cannot be saved
Check free disk space, folder permissions, duplicate-name settings and whether another program has locked the destination. Keep partial downloads and their destination drive available for resume.
A video is unavailable or the quality is missing
Use an individual video URL and confirm playback works on the original site. Protected or unsupported media cannot be saved. Repair or reinstall the full release if the video components are missing. Not every source offers every resolution.
Closing the app does not stop downloads
Closing the main window sends FID to the notification area. Right-click the icon and choose Exit to pause work and stop the app.
Ask for help
Share the FID version, exact error, and steps to reproduce through the support page. Hide private filenames, account information and URL tokens in screenshots.
